Oscar-winning filmmakers of "The Cove" bust a Santa Monica sushi bar for serving endangered whale meat.

moth:

The Hump is a pretty popular sushi place right in the private Santa Monica airport — I’ve been there once and it’s frequented by masters-of-the-universe types who land their planes there.  The filmmakers, who just won an Academy Award for their documentary The Cove, which depicts the annual killing of dolphins by villagers in a Japanese national park, caught the whale being served on camera, then got a marine biologist to identify the samples. The restauranteurs could face up to a year in prison. via Grub Street LA.
